Aikido Yuishinkai UK is not a representative body for Aikido Yuishinkai affiliated groups in the UK, which are autonomous and independently affiliated to Aikido Yuishinkai International. Currently there is no single representative body or Chief Instructor in the UK, and no common organisational or management structure, each group is free to operate under its own structure and leadership. Practically, however, this does leave some tasks still to be performed, and it was for certain of these tasks that Aikido Yuishinkai UK was set up. It exists purely to facilitate access to Aikido Yuishinkai; it aims to promote Aikido Yuishinkai and to work for the benefit of all, including those un-affiliated to Aikido Yuishinkai that have an interest in Aikido Yuishinkai or its principles. Aikido Yuishinkai UK's main activities are:
Aikido Yuishinkai came to the UK in 2004, when Master Koretoshi Maruyama was invited by Denis Burke Sensei to teach a seminar in Andover. Burke Sensei was asked to continue organising and hosting such seminars, which are now held annually, and he set up Aikido Yuishinkai UK to support that purpose. It operates independently, on the proceeds of seminars, and does not levy charges on Aikido Yuishinkai affiliated groups or their members. Since Aikido Yuishinkai UK is not a membership, governing or regulatory body, it does not control or regulate Aikido Yuishinkai affiliated Dojos or their practices. |
